Radio spots and news outlets have indicated we are in the midst of an intense flu season. A number of our active members have influenza or influenza-like symptoms. Although we are not cancelling church services, it is obvious that many may be absent due to illness. Louisiana and our neighboring states have all been identified as having high influenza rates. Please pray for our affected members and our region, and be sure to get a flu shot if you have not done so already. How about for the next Sunday or two instead of shaking hands or hugging, why not give a fist pump or rub elbows!

Yours In Christ,

This past week, HULU was at Covington Presbyterian and filmed an episode of the upcoming sci-fi drama series, “The First,” which is set in the near future. The series will be centered on the first human mission to Mars and, according to a Hulu synopsis, will “explore the challenges of taking the first steps toward interplanetary colonization.”

Our worship services in January will focus on the Mission and Ministry of Jesus Christ and how CPC participates in that mission and ministry. Please Come and Worship!

Sunday, January 21, 2018 CPC will hold a Mission Emphasis Sunday. Delitha Lane, Jason Johnston, Dianne Kaack, and Constance Anderson of Evergreen Life Services will lead our worship service. Come and hear about our current mission opportunities and one potential upcoming mission opportunity with Evergreen Life Services.

Sunday, January 28, 2018 CPC will ordain and install Church Officers for 2018. Following the worship service, we will hold our Annual Congregational Meeting. The purpose of this called meeting is 1) review the 2018 budget, 2) elect a 2018 Nominating Committee, and 3) vote on the amended By-laws of CPC.

At 5:00 PM on the 28th CPC will hold its first Confirmation Class of 2018. These confirmands will complete their study and all requirements of confirmation and reaffirm their Baptismal vows on Easter Sunday 2018.
